Objectives:
To assess the genetic diversity of Tuber borchii in plantations and forests of Portugal. Study their competitiveness with other native ectomycorrhizal fungi.

Description:
Tuber borchii grows naturally in Portugal and has been found associated with less sensitive forests to the dry disease of Quercus. Monitoring was performed by molecular analysis of different wild fruitbodies and a plantation in the Alentejo. genetic diversity of borchii and their mating types were evaluated.
Joint research project with the University of Coimbra (Portugal) and CNR (Italy).
